A drawing of a castle, with a moat in the foreground. A few figures stand on the lowered drawbridge and in the castle garden; in the moat are a pair of ducks and a boat with two people. The castle is 'Huis te Rhoon' near the village of Rhoon (South Holland), not far from Schiedam. The medieval castle was completely rebuilt in the sixteenth century. The drawing belongs to a series depicting castles and country houses which Roelant Roghman drew in the provinces of Holland and Utrecht in 1646 and 1647. The castle at Rhoon featured in several drawings showing it from different sides. This drawing was done in 1647, as noted at the lower right, where it is also signed.
